This forum has the potential to be very useful. However it might be more effective if users could be notified of new topics and posts that are made to the forum. – There may be a facility to watch or subscribe to a forum or topic – I’ve had a look and that kind of facility isn’t immediately apparent to me. Could someone please investigate a watch/subscribe facility and then let me/us know how this is done (probably it’s right there ‘under my nose’ somewhere…) ?
Hi Peter, [I’ve moved this thread to the suggestion box] There is indeed a "watch thread" option right a the top of each thread When some one posts on a thread, they are automatically subscribed (so, you are now subscribed to this thread) When someone posts on your thread, you are sent a notification. It does’t do this every time (since that could get quite annoying), but does it once when there is a new post/posts that you haven’t yet read. But you don’t have to post on the thread to subscribe, you can just click the "watch thread" option Do you think this needs to be somehow more obvious? Bigger / a different colour? Click the thumbnail to see a picture of this:
Ah – I see. Thanks Mike. Yes it’s probably ok where it is for each thread – is there a similar facility at the next level up – to inform when a new thread/topic is started in a one of the ‘sub-forums’?
Sure, if this is what you mean: If you want to know whats new in a sub forum, they are ordered by "last post", so if someone has posted in a thread of a subforum, it will be at the top of that forum list At the top of the forum, there is a link to show users "What’s New" This shows users all of the new posts and threads that they have not read yet since their last visit, here’s a pic:
