I’m reading Chocolat at the moment and I love it! I saw the movie but it did not leave a lasting impression, so I put off reading the book for a long time, thinking it would be the same. However the book feels much darker than the movie and this gives it more depth and feeling. Downside is, I’m craving chocolate nonstop now (especially hot chocolate with cognac!). Has anyone read other books by Joanne Harris or could recommend other titles? are they as good as Chocolat? to my knowledge this is her most famous title…?

I’ve read Chocolat but also Five Quarters of The Orange, and it’s a good book too, but even darker! The story is set partly in present times and partly during the narrator’s childhood, during WW2. I’d recommend it, although possibly not if you’re looking for a funny book :) I know she also wrote Blackberry Wine but haven’t read that one (yet!).
